I met Ben Buehler-Garcia because our shows were profiled by the Veterans Administration. Ben never served in the military. I appreciated the challenge he faces in connecting with those who are active-duty military and those who are Veterans.
Ben feels that he has a duty to make sure the stories he tells gets to as many people as possible. This fuels this labor of love to do American Warrior Radio. I was a guest on his show (https://americanwarriorradio.com/2023/03/oscar-mike-radio/) and Ben’s curiosity about my story and what my transition experience was like came through when he talked with me.
I believe that people like Ben are great advocates for our military and Veterans. Even though they have no military experience, their love for America means they understand the sacrifices and challenges we face.
Thank you, Ben, for talking with me, I appreciate your work and I am looking forward to talking with you again.

I listened to 107.3 FM WAAF in the Greater Boston area for over 20 years. It went off the airwaves on February 21st, 2020. I wanted to make this podcast as a way of saying thanks for good memories and getting into podcasting. Greg Hill, Spaz, LB, Mike Hsu, and Mistress Carrie were all like friends to me over the years. Mistress Carrie graciously accepted my invite to come on Oscar Mike Radio not once, but twice. I would like to think that there is a part of her in every podcast I do. A tireless advocate for Veterans, I hope to hear her voice on the airwaves soon. I just wanted a way to say that you all more were than just noise coming through my headphones. Thanks for all the memories and good times WAAF!

How was the 22Kill Boston Casino night? I had a lot of fun getting to see familiar faces and meet new people. 22 Kill was at the Emerald Club in Abington, MA doing a fundraiser.
I am hoping that 22Kill Boston does more events. The whole tribe concept is very appealing to me. A group of people who are bound together is a powerful force.
Speaking of people, a listener was at the event and it was good talking about their story. They may be coming on the Oscar Mike Radio very soon. It is important to socialize and connect with each other. It is the only way to cover each other’s 6.
I got the book Eye Deep in Hell from a friend of mine. Again, I thought I had a pretty good idea about how World War One was fought. To my disappointment I discovered again that my knowledge was elementary at best. John Ellis takes the reader through everything about Trench Warfare.
There is no whitewashing of the situation in this book. John lays out the history and methodology behind trench warfare. He then goes into the soldier’s lives doing this kind of warfare. I thought I had hard times serving in the desert, but nothing I experienced comes close to what these men did.
Lice, rats and standing twelve hours or more in icy waist deep mud was all in a normal day for the Doughboys. More men were injured from gangrene than anything else. It was a war of attrition that ground soldiers on all sides into nothing. This was a difficult book to read. However, it is just the kind of book that we all should read, especially high and college kids. You can get Eye Deep in Hell from Amazon for $25.00. I consider this a must read. Like I have said before, I could a year of podcasts on World War One and not even scratch the surface. I hope you enjoyed these. I learned just how little I know. OMR out.
My podcast is targeted for 30 minutes air time. Some people are asking for 60 minutes. That raises all kinds of questions, and I would like to know what you think.
100. 100 Episodes equals about 60 hours of content that have been produced in the last two years. I first want to thanks family, friends, co-workers and those unknown who have taken time to listen to me work on this. What is this? What is Oscar Mike Radio? Oscar Mike Radio is my way raising awareness for Veteran and Military by giving a voice to stories that would otherwise not be told. 94 episodes ago I met Kip Clark, host of the podcast Stride and Saunter (https://www.strideandsaunter.com/) and he told me I could do this.
Before the first episode was even created, Keith Hayes and Anthony Arnold got behind me to get this idea off the ground. I am happy and proud to be part of the Whoobazoo Network (https://whoobazoo.com/). This team continues to move me in the right direction, and the podcast has only gotten better.
So Episode 100 it seemed fitting to ask Mistress Carrie to come back on the show. Her first time on Oscar Mike Radio was Episode 62 – Click link here for entire show – Mistress Carrie – Episode 62 This episode was eye opener for me. I thought I was getting good at interviewing people and talking about Veterans’ Issues. Mistress Carrie was gracious and engaging and I learned a lot about content production. She is a total pro with decades of experience and I had a blast talking with her.
I worked to get better. We met up again for Episode 84 – Mistress Carrie Part 1 and she talked about working to be embedded with an unnamed Special Forces Unit. To hear how she had to prepare and what happened around that was a great story. This kind of story doesn’t happen that often, and it was cool getting the behind the scenes info.
Having Mistress Carrie back on for 100 seemed fitting. Yes she is a public figure and celebrity, but no one can argue that she walks that the talk when it comes to Veterans. I enjoyed talking with her about Richard Fitts Jr.’s documentary, 21 Years a Folded Flag. Both us of have interviewed and talked with Richard Fitts Jr. and are looking forward to seeing the finished film.
If you look at the picture below, the story behind this image made the entire experience for episode 100 worth it. I am not going to spoil it here. I will end by saying that I hope to see what is going in with 22 Kill Boston at Jump Town, and I am looking forward to seeing what Mistress Carrie is going to do next. Thanks for celebrating 100 with me Mistress, Semper Fidelis.
Welcome back! It is just me this week and so here is a show with traditional flow you all are used to on Oscar Mike Radio. Stand up, shuffle-up and walk to the door, it is time to JUMP!
Question of the Week
What is the Weekend Safety Brief? Simply put, the weekend safety brief will be a weekly YouTube Livestream. I need to get better in front of the camera, and this seemed a fun way to do it.
Episode 90 is here!!! This starts the official countdown to Episode 100! Time flies and I have been having fun ever since this started. One of the big things going forward that I can now announce is Oscar Mike Radio which as you all know is part of the Whoobazoo will now be streaming to Radio Massasoit.
Episode 88 with Sgt Megan was the very first episode, and I am excited that Oscar Mike Radio will be heard by a younger demographic.
The Word – Sock Puppet Silliness
Was this so heinous that it cost two people their careers?
Look at the image to your left. This is Master Sergeant Robin Brown (E-8) with the Tennessee Air National Guard. She was removed from her position at the Joint Public Affairs Office after this video hit critical mass on social media. I looked at this video and while I could argue that it wasn’t exactly, 100% military proper, based on the weight of the collars in the room it certainly wasn’t a moment that warranted the reaction by the brass. The brass being Major General Terry Haston who kicked out MSGT Brown, forced the retirement of the Colonel who presided over the ceremony. His main crime was he did not raise his right hand during the ceremony. Adam Weinstein, Senior Editor for Task and Purpose & Navy Veteran sums up how I feel with the following article. Everybody Involved In That Dino Puppet Reenlistment Video Just Got Fired .
