It is interesting how shows come together. I got to know Susan Hunter through her book 77 Letters and Wayne Soares from a colleague.
We got to talk about a film project based on the Vietnam War called, “Every Time the Wind Blew”. This film seemed to be a different kind of project especially since neither Susan nor Wayne served in the Vietnam War or military.
Listening to their story of why they are doing this film and what they have learned, brought a different perspective than what one usually hears about the Vietnam War. You can go to https://www.facebook.com/EveryTimeThe… to learn more.
This project is already underway and is on schedule for an early 2022 release.
Tina Hargett and Tom Anderson co-host the Take it Back Show on the IQ Podcasts Network. She talked with me about the military and why she is supporting Chris Turner, The Tennessee VFW and Crosswinds Foundation for the launch of The Freedom Tour.
Tina is a talented artist singer, and podcaster, and is using her gifts to support The Freedom Tour. The Freedom Tour is going to be a way to engage with Veterans and the people who support us by offering fellowship, comradery, and a means to help those dealing with PTSD and Moral Injury.
Tina heard about The Freedom Tour and along with Tom Anderson wanted to support the work. This has been amazing to see people like Tina want to come and support something from the ground up. Thank you for talking with me.

I met Roger Gindlesperger Jr. Through James Van Prooyen’s Veterans Virtual Cocktail Hour. Through this time, James has connected Veterans in Business to each other and I have been honored to have them on my show.
Roger talked about toothpaste. Specifically, a charcoal based toothpaste that wouldn’t harm people’s teeth. I was intrigued because oral health is important to me.
We talked about coming on Oscar Mike Radio and Roger asked about bring NFL Veteran Marques Ogden on to talk about Grind from a strategic standpoint. Marques has known Roger for a while and recently came on as Co-Owner of Grind Oral Care.
Rise. Grind. Repeat. it is more than a marketing tag-line for Roger and Marques. This mantra is a belief that anything worthwhile comes through disciplined focus.
I want to say thanks to Roger and Marques for coming on and talking about more than just toothpaste. The lessons learned in creating “G7” can be applied to other areas in life regardless if one a NFL or Military Veteran.
When people think coaching, they often think of sports or athletic coaching. Especially when “High Performance” is used as the coaching nomenclature.
Judy Skilling was a Navy Corpsman, and after leaving the Navy discovered that helping people gave her a sense of purpose that she couldn’t get in other career fields. She found that the principles in the High Performance Coaching Platform could help people attain their personal and professional goals.
Like Heather Hargrove, I found that Judy takes a proactive approach to identifying her client’s needs and giving them the tools for lifelong success. If you are stuck in the proverbial rut personally and professionally go to www.judyskilling.com to learn more. I can’t wait to have Judy back on Oscar Mike Radio. We just barely scratched the surface of the High Performance Coaching Platform. Thank you Judy!
Thanks to my sponsors Joyce Asack, Mark Holmes and Shaun Schubert for supporting Veterans!
BBQ is something that brings out a passion in people regardless of their background. It is a religion, and the newest preacher is USAF Veteran Mike Starr.
Mike has been around BBQ all his life and really came into his own when he was the “Squadron Pitmaster” for his US Air Force Unit. Being in the military, allowed Mike to taste BBQ all over the world. I am jealous.
Blazing Starr BBQ launched this year. That’s right, COVID-19 and a global economic fallout did not stop Mike from launching his company. He saw it as a way to get established as people’s habits changed due to COVID-19.
There are a lot of lessons one can learn from Blazing Star BBQ. The main theme for me is believing in yourself and your product. Then working to make it the best you possibly can while adapting to an ever changing business climate. I am looking forward to talking with Mike in the future as his business grows.
