As I said at the start of this show, The New England Center and Home for Veterans have had a profound impact on my life. At the time, it was the New England Shelter and Home for Veterans. I wasn’t homeless, but I needed something that said I had technical acumen, even though my Marine Corps MOS could only be done by a small percentage of people. I got a hand up when I needed it, and giving back to the New England Center and Home for Veterans seemed like a matter of course.
For this episode, I talked to Andrew “Andy” McCawley, CEO of the New England Center and Home for Veterans. We discussed the progress and ongoing challenges in addressing veteran homelessness, highlighting the center’s evolution from a shelter to a provider of comprehensive services supporting independent living.
Andy shared insights on prevention efforts, the importance of community support, and details about the 23rd Annual Leave No One Behind Gala, featuring NASA astronaut Captain Sunita Williams as keynote speaker.
My desire is that this conversation inspires you to learn more about the Center’s mission to assist veterans in overcoming complex challenges and achieving stability with dignity.
